Other Dialogs

This page is a reference for a few smaller windows reached from the menus: the Mailbox Selection (Profile Manager), the Event Log, and About.

Mailbox Selection (Profile Manager)

Open it from Tools ▸ Profile Manager. The window — titled Mailbox Selection — lists your profiles (mailboxes) and lets you create, register, rename, and switch between them. Each profile is a self-contained mailbox folder with its own accounts, folders, and messages.

The buttons (New, Add, Remove, Set Default…, Set Display Name, Open Folder, and the Show folder names toggle) and the restart-on-switch behaviour are described in full under Getting Started ▸ Profiles.

Event Log

Open it from Help ▸ Event Log. The Event Log window shows a running log of the app's internal activity, with a live status panel and tools to export it — mainly useful for troubleshooting or when asked for diagnostics by support.

The top of the window shows status indicators (coloured dots) for the app's servers and connections:

Indicator Reflects
UDP Server / TCP Server The local discovery and connection servers.
Upstream The connection to your provider.
Num. Clients How many clients are currently connected.
SMTP / POP3 The local SMTP and POP3 bridges, shown per IPv4 / IPv6.
Sync Server The folder-sync server.

Below the indicators:

Control Action
Enabled Turn detailed event logging on or off.
(log area) The captured log text.
Clear Empty the log area.
Send Event Log Submit the log for diagnostics.

When support asks for a log

Turn Enabled on, reproduce the problem, then use Send Event Log (or copy the text) so the captured activity covers the moment things went wrong.

About

Open it from Help ▸ About. The About Sobamail Desktop window shows the application version and build date, and notes that it is built with the Qt Framework.

Control Action
About Qt Show the Qt framework's own about box.
Inspect Open the embedded browser's developer tools.
License link Open the License Blurbs window with the full licence text.

Use the version and build date here when reporting an issue, so it is clear which build you are running.

License Blurbs

The License link in the About window opens License Blurbs — a read-only view of the application's licence and the notices for the third-party components it includes.
